How long is the course?
A standard EFAW for schools qualification is 6 hours plus breaks. To reduce the amount of inset time this course requires, or the amount of cover required, we are able to offer this course in a blended format, with just 3 hours of face to face time. (this also means that two cohorts could be taught in a single day)
Assessment & Certification
Certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment of the student, there is no final exam. (during a blended EFAW a further online assessment is undertaken) Those students who complete the course and are deemed to have reached the required standard are issued with a certificate that is valid for three years and is HSE compliant. Under the current guidelines it is strongly recommended that first aid trained staff attend a half-day update every twelve months.

Want to know more about the blended option?
This course enables schools and similar settings to meet HSE, DfE and Ofsted requirements – with the flexibility of holding the 3 hour practical training as a twilight session if preferred, or by running 2 half day sessions and splitting the cohort to minimise disruption. This course covers both adult and child first aid, leaving your team fully confident in looking after each other and pupils alike. All of the typical day to day, bumps, falls, nosebleeds are addressed along with the more serious medical emergencies such as asthma, anaphylaxis and epilepsy. The online portion can be accessed anytime, allowing delegates to log in and out as required. Both elements should be completed within a 3 week period.
The blended learning approach is fully supported by the HSE and Ofsted, we have a very robust approach to delivery of this course. There are 3 steps to ensure competency and confidence for all those undertaking this training, we issue an electronic resource booklet, deliver an interactive face to face practical session and a comprehensive online course in the form of video tutorials.
